This tour explores highlights of Maui’s history before and after its contact with people outside Hawai’i in 1778.
The tour lasts about three hours. Two thirds will be traveling in the car where Tony will teach and explain what you are seeing as we drive about fifty miles through various parts of Maui. One third of the time will be exploring on foot at four different stops: an ancient temple mount, the Kepaniwai battle site, an educational display about the sugar industry, and the Word War II memorial campsite of the USMC Fourth Marine Division. Restroom breaks are available. Water and snacks are provided. Specific itineraries may change based upon weather, site availability, safety, passenger interest, and pacing. * The car seats three passengers comfortably. A fourth passenger will sit in the center rear seat.
